Client Brief

A new bar back cabinet that is well lit with sufficient display space.

Our Approach 

Typically, in all colonial era clubs and buildings, there is a “store room” for old/ disused/ deemed-junk furniture. We rummaged through, and found a single simple “cupboard” (in the literal sense), 10′ long which suited our requirement. The quality material of the original cupboard hidden under multiple coats of polish, the slender shutter frames and perfect joinery show excellent craftsmanship, leaving very little scope for improvement. We proposed to modify this by adding a pediment, a suitable back drop with lighting, a counter and proportional legs to suit the space available without changing the ambience of the historic bar.
